Liberian Youth Initiatives held a One day Leadership Training and Honoring Program, December 16, 2013.
 
The Executive Director of the Liberia Youth initiatives, Mr. George  D. Johnson, has described youth empowerment as a hallmark for Liberia’s development. Speaking to a team of journalists recently in Monrovia, asserted that the future of Liberia depends on the youths and as such they must be empowered to take up the challenge to move the country forward.
According to the Executive Director of the Liberian Youth initiatives, the minds of Liberian youths need to be developed if the country must reach its aim come 2030.

The LYI’s Executive Director said. The Liberian Youth initiatives Boss further noted that most youths in the country are still lagging behind based on their involvement in the Liberian civil crisis which lasted for over 14 year leaving them vulnerable, especially young women and girls across the country.

He spoke to journalists at the honoring program of the Liberian Youth initiatives held at the Young Men Christian Association of Liberia (YMCA). Also speaking was the program Coordinator of the Liberian Youth initiatives, Mr. Marcus Kollie, who noted that, the most important thing to do as a young Liberian is to be focused on the development of the country and forget about things that are not in the interest of the youthful populace of the country.

”it is not about what Liberian has to give you as a young person but what you have to offer to your country as citizens and meeting up with your responsibilities in order to transform Liberia,” Mr. Marcus M. Kollie said .Mr. kollie has labeled youth involvement in Liberia’s development as a major tool therefore the young people of Liberia must be adequately prepared if they must take leadership in the Country.

Meanwhile, the president of the Young men Christian Association National Youth Council, Beyan Harris, has called on Liberian youths to get involved in positive activities and do away with violence and return Liberia to its original status.
He said if the youths of Liberia must be leaders in time to come, they must be adequately prepared to take future challenges as leaders of the country.
